The basis for the album came out of a regular experimental music session held weekly on Easdale Island (Argyll, Scotland), incorporating piano, double bass and drum set, along with pipes etc Some of the pieces came out experiments in creating melody from the basis of bass loops and chord sequences, and many pieces on the album involve the use of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian rhythms.

This is an album that brings together some of the strands I have been investigating musically over the years: traditional Celtic music, bagpipes of various kinds, exotic instruments, jazz etc. Chinese Yang Qin (hammerd dulcimer) features on two tracks. This album consistes of 12 original instrumental pieces played on pipes (border, gaita, highland and uillean), double bass, keyboards, drums percussion and brass.
